The brake pedal is directly attached to the brake master cylinder and acts as a lever to apply pressure against the brake master cylinder. Brake pedal pulsation, excessive brake pedal travel, a “soft” or “hard” brake pedal can be indicators of serious brake problems, including a brake fluid leak in the hydraulic system, low brake fluid levels, or unevenly worn brake shoes or brake pads.
